Frequently Asked Questions
HERE ARE THE BASICS...
Virtual reality or virtual realities (VR), which can be referred to as immersive multimedia or computer-simulated reality, replicates an environment that simulates a physical presence in places in the real world or an imagined world, allowing the user to interact in that world.
This is somewhat subjective, but the team at loftVR believes that virtual reality is the future of gaming, film, and entertainment in general. This new type of display completely immerses the user in the entertainment, blurring the lines between realities. Interacting with visual content has never before been so intuitive.
YES! This new type of entertainment is designed for the masses. Book your first visit as a 2-for-1, so you can split the time with a friend!
Absolutely, and that’s our ultimate goal! We would love to know that our guests went on to adopt this exciting technology in their own homes. However, the current systems are somewhat expensive and require a rather large, unobstructed space in which to operate. We hope we can bridge the gap for those of you who just can’t wait to become a VR enthusiast! Although the cost may be restrictive, we do sell in home VR systems. Contact us to learn about more purchasing your very own VR system.
BOOKING AND PROCEDURE
Definitely. Certain software titles will enable you to join your friends in the game. You will be able to communicate with them through the built-in headset microphone, and see your friends’ actions performed by their avatars!
The answer to this is both simple and complex. We offer Steam, a content distribution software (think, Netflix for gaming). Within that platform, you will have access to a number of VR titles. So, within a single booking, you can decide what game(s) you want to play from our library! We will also be conducting monthly surveys to ensure the next titles we offer are the ones that you want.
The minimum age for a LOFTVR customer is 10 years old. Any LOFTVR guests under the age of 18 must have their parent/guardian present at the start of the booking to sign the Terms and Conditions in-person, on behalf of their child.
Absolutely! loftVR encourages everyone from the community to take advantage of our facility’s offerings. Contact your location loftVR location for specific information about field trips.

We also accept the cryptocurrencies Bitcoin and Ether. Contact us to learn more about paying with these cryptocurrencies.
We recommend (especially for your first visit) that you arrive at least twenty (20) minutes in advance of your booking, to review the setup process and even watch other customers in-action!
No problem! Cancellations can be done by emailing your location loftVR location.

ABILITY AND SAFETY
Highly unlikely. Thanks, mostly, to HTC’s incredible Chaperone system, you will have a very good sense of where you are located in real space while playing the VR content. Should you approach any walls, other people, chairs, etc. in the VR playspace, the Chaperone system will project a blue hologram of that obstacle inside the game. Yes – this sounds like science fiction, but we ensure you it is now science fact.
Technically, there is no minimum height, but users at least four (4) feet or taller will have a better VR experience. On the flip side, any guest who is seven (7) feet or taller may also experience a less-optimal VR experience.
Not likely! The HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD) features slots to allow the average pair of eyewear to fit inside while using the system. The Vive also features adjustment knobs to configure the focus for each eye independently, and a separate adjustment knob to match the screen separation to that of your eyes!
The optimal VR experience requires users to move their head and neck, and have use of at least one hand to interact with the environment. At loftVR, we can accommodate most skill, mobility and cognitive levels for a range of guests, and our entire loftVR facility and all VR playspaces are wheelchair accessible.
However, be sure to consult your doctor before using visiting loftVR if you have pre-existing serious medical conditions (such as a heart ailment), conditions that affect your ability to safely perform physical activities, psychiatric conditions (such as anxiety disorders or post-traumatic stress disorder), or if you are pregnant or elderly.
You should avoid visiting loftVR if you are sick, fatigued, under the influence of intoxicants/drugs, or are not feeling generally well, as it may exacerbate your condition.
As with any motion-related entertainment, some people may be susceptible to unexpected side-effects during the VR session.
Should you feel uneasy at any point, we ask that you stop the VR session and inform a loftVR staff member promptly. Each playspace is equipped with a motion-sickness emergency kit (garbage can), should you require it.
FACILITY AND HARDWARE
The Vive is a specific brand of head-mounted display (HMD), controllers, and tracking peripherals, which allows the user to see and interact with the virtual environment. Infrared lasers and LEDs are tracked by each component, providing highly-accurate tracking capabilities to transfer your movement to your character in the game.
We’ve gotta start somewhere! And, in our opinion, starting with the HTC Vive was a no-brainer. For one, HTC has partnered with Valve, (creator of games like Half-Life and Portal and) the inventors of Steam – currently the worlds largest content distribution network. With over 65-million active users and the endless line-up of available titles, the Vive is poised to offer some of the most innovative VR experiences – first.
Beyond the partnership with Valve, the Vive also offers superior tracking methods for its head-mounted display (HMD) and peripherals, which nearly eliminates motion-sickness and provides the most immersive VR experience available.
The Vive also offers Chaperone, a “virtual assistant” which uses a front-facing camera on the HMD to project real-world elements (tables, pets, walls, etc.) into your virtual world, giving you peace-of-mind that you are safe and aware of both realities during game play.
